Free Audio Recording Software – Audacity
Lots of sound related software’s available in the market these days but very few can compete with the terrific Audacity designed for audio recording & editing features.
I have also tested this software and found it a brilliant audio editing solution fully equipped with cross-platform functionality. At first sight, I deemed it as ordinary software but when I dived in its complexity, I found it extremely impressive and useful. I have also used it for multi-track mixing solutions and found it terrific as well.
Audio I/O Tab Settings to Play Single & Multiple Tracks
If you want to use this software at its full strength then you have to get the real knack of its configuration. Take a close look at the audio I/O tab specifically used to arrange devices for recording and playback operations.
I tried to record my voice using my microphone and came to know that Audio records only one single track by default. Later on, I changed the I/O tab settings to use more than one track to satisfy my needs. After this the application performed very well using a stereo source for Line in.
Quality Tab Settings to Alter Bid Depth & Sample Rate of Tracks
Then I focussed on the quality tab to alter the bid depth and the sample rate of the tracks. Remember that if your system is low on RAM then don’t try to set up the sample format to 32-bit as it will occupy maximum RAM in response alongside processing power and hard disk space as well. On the other hand if you have the latest hardware machine then don’t fret over RAM usage. Setting the sample format to 16-bit will be good for all those folks who are counting on older or below average PCs.
File Format Tab Settings to Export Audio Files in Multifarious Formats
I used the File formats tab to set the uncompressed export file format that has multiple settings to export audio files in different formats. For example you can set the OGG export quality and you can also make a smart choice of exporting it in MP3 formats as well. All other tabs included in the configuration zone are literally self-explanatory and any average user can comprehend their functionalities as the tabs speak for themselves. All those folks who use Audacity on daily basis to edit their audio tracks should get their hands on its configuration settings to taste its audio related capabilities in the best way.
The interface of Audacity is not very impressive and gives a legacy type of look but you must not make your opinion on first look as the software is capable enough to offer something beyond your expectations. The most important tool used in the list of editing tool is identified as the Selector tool. You can easily use this tool to make a selection among the tracks to work with the desired track. You can also take liberty to position the margins by grabbing the corner of the selected area. This was a short introduction about the most important configuration tools in Audacity application. You can spend more time to explore its in-depth options on your own.
